    BOATING SAFETY COURSES 2009

Before the start of National Safe Boating Week, the Lauderdale Lakes Water Patrol will present a 2-day Wisconsin DNR boating safety course. This course is open to adults and to children, 10 years and older. A parent must accompany their child to course registration which will precede the class on the first day, Saturday, April 25 from 8:30 to 9:00 AM.

The course registration fee of $10 will be collected at that time.

The formal class will start at 9:00 AM both days. Class will run until 4:00 pm on Saturday (lunch will not be provided so be sure to bring a sack lunch; water and soda will be provided) and until approximately 1:00 pm on Sunday, April 26. Successful completion of a DNR boating safety course is required for anyone age 12 to under the age of 16 who wishes to operate personal watercraft (jetskis, waverunners, etc.) or who wishes to operate conventional powerboats without an adult aboard. There is also a NEW LAW which is for anyone born on or after 01-01-89 and at least 16 years of age to operate a motorboat on Wisconsin’s waterways he or she must have a boating safety certificate.

This will be one of two courses offered this year by the Lauderdale Lakes Water Patrol. Pre-registration or information can be obtained by calling 262-882-2030. Class size will be limited to approximately 40 students.

The second class will be held on June 6th and 7th at the LaGrange Town Hall located at N7899 County Road H. Class size will be limited to approximately 25 students.

To reserve a seat for the April class, please call the above number by April 18th to pre-register. To reserve a seat for the June class, please call the above number by May 30th to pre-register. If leaving a message at the pre-registration number, please provide the name(s) and correct spelling of the student(s) name, date of birth(s) and a telephone contact number.

On the day of the class, wear comfortable clothes, bring paper and pencils, and don't forget that lunch!
