MINUTES OF REGULAR TOWN BOARD MEETING
LAGRANGE TOWN BOARD
May 12, 2008

The regular monthly meeting of the Town Board of the Town of LaGrange was called to order by Chairman Taylor. Supervisor Bromley, Supervisor Sukala, Supervisor Callaway, and Supervisor Schramm were all present. Crystal Hoffmann, Clerk/Treasurer was also present.
  1. The minutes of April 14, 2008 were approved as presented (Schramm/Bromley)
  2. Treasurer’s report accepted as presented
  3. The agenda was approved (Callaway/Sukala)
  4. Committee Reports:
        a. Buildings and Highways: no meeting
        b. Safety committee: There will be a special gathering at Old World Wisconsin for David Heilmeier Memorial on June 18, 2008; The New Fire Department Equipment Truck is in service; having a problem with quorums at meeting, will check with members to see if they still want to serve, have 3 applicants waiting to serve.
        c. Lake Management Districts: LLLMD are meeting next Saturday at 8 a.m. and on the agenda are culverts; Pleasant Lake District is meeting Saturday, June 28th at the Kenosha Girl Scout Camp at 9 a.m., also the District is very happy with how the drain/sewer turned out.
        d. Finance and Personnel: no meeting
        e. Information committee: no meeting, but would like a picture of the new truck with the Fire Department members to put up on the website.
  5. Planning and Zoning: no meeting
  6. Spring Road bids—only received on bid, Mann Bros. for $674,594.50 for base bid. This includes undercutting one foot, pulverizing, relay, grading and paving. Discussed another option which would be to pulverize existing pavement, then tar and pea gravel for more flexibility, and hopefully keep the cost under $200,000. Motion to reject all bids and to re-bid the project for pulverizing, then putting down tar, and pea gravelling the surface (Bromley/Schramm) Motion carries.
  7. Beach/Boat house stabilization project—Kristen from C.S. presented a table regarding costs and breaking them down into our portion and Walworth County’s portion.
  8. Narrowing of a pier at for Jerry Remien, W5217 Sterlingworth Court—Motion to approve (Sukala/Callaway) Motion carries.
  9. Reminder to everyone that building permits are needed for any and all changes to piers and anything that is non-conforming to the ordinance needs to be seen/approved by the Town Board.
  10. Charles Miller, W5659 Park Road, re-do a wharf—not truly a wharf as ½ is on land and ½ is in water, wants to resurface, also wants to put in 3 new legs and re-deck the top for water section, Motion to approve with the understanding that this is not a president (Callaway/Sukala) Motion carries.
  11. Approval of Combination Class B liquor licenses:
        a. Lauderdale Lakes Lake Management District for the Lauderdale Lakes Country Club at N7498 Country Club Drive, Elkhorn—Motion to approve (Callaway/Bromley) Motion carries.
        b. Michael Bettinger for the LaGrange General Store at W6098 Highway 12, Whitewater—Motion to approve (Schramm/Callaway) Motion carries.
  12. Approval of operator’s licenses for 2008-2009
        a. Ashley Shepard, Whitewater—Motion to approve (Bromley/Sukala) Motion carries.
        b. Bryan MacGillivray, 942 W. Highland St., Whitewater—Motion to approve (Schramm/Bromley) Motion carries.
        c. Monra Hamilton, W5137 Katy Court, Elkhorn—Motion to approve (Sukala/Schramm) Motion carries.
        d. Chris White, N7511 Sterlingworth, Elkhorn—Motion to approve (Callaway/Sukala) Motion carries.
        e. Thomas Meike, N6006 Prairie Court, Elkhorn—Motion to approve (Bromley/Sukala) Motion carries.
        f. Todd Dornfeld, W5091 Hawk Road, Elkhorn—Motion to approve (Schramm/Sukala) Motion carries.
        g. Mary Grobelny, W4694 Ridgeview Road, Elkhorn—Motion to approve (Sukala/Callaway) Motion carries.

  13. Sending a letter to all commercial pier installers notifying them that commercial fee of $200 is required to use the launch ramps—Motion to direct the clerk to send a letter to all commercial pier installers of the $200 fee (Bromley/Callaway) Motion carries.
  14. April 2005 election—voice mail
  15. Payment of bills submitted for approval—Motion to pay bills submitted (Schramm/Sukala) Motion carries.

There being no further business a motion to adjourn was made at 8:32 p.m. (Bromley/Schramm) Motion carries.
